We Are …

Zeitzeugnis is a non-profit association building the world’s largest high-resolution volumetric archive of eyewitness testimony.

The idea began in 2018, when Sven Bliedung von der Heide and Torsten Schimmer opened Germany’s first volumetric capture studio. While the system was originally built for Hollywood productions, they envisioned a greater purpose: using this pioneering technology to preserve human memory.

Since then, they have worked with partners and institutions worldwide to record as many stories as possible. Along the way, many organizations expressed interest in supporting this mission—making it clear that a dedicated structure was needed. In 2025, the association Zeitzeugnis was officially founded to provide a unified legal entity that organizes and safeguards the archive, coordinates international collaborations, and enables new recordings to be produced at scale.

Our recordings capture voice, gesture, and micro-expression in true 3D, with a fidelity beyond ordinary video. Preserved with archival-grade workflows and strict rights protections, these testimonies will remain authentic, accessible, and impactful for research, education, and collective memory.

We Are A Strong Team

Our team is driven by a simple belief: these voices must not be lost.
We bring together experts in volumetric capture, film production, archival science, history, and ethics — united by the mission to preserve human memory in its truest form.

Led by Sven Bliedung von der Heide (Volucap) and Torsten Schimmer, we combine the precision of Hollywood-grade technology with the responsibility of museum-level preservation. Every recording — from the moment the cameras roll to its secure long-term storage — is treated with both technical excellence and deep respect for the people who entrust us with their stories.

This is not just about technology; it is about dignity, memory, and the duty to pass on truth.
Join us — as a partner, donor, or volunteer — and help ensure these irreplaceable testimonies will live on for generations to come.

Preserve the voices of eyewitnesses — for all future generations

We record Holocaust survivors and contemporary witnesses in lifelike volumetric 3D, capturing not only their words but their presence and emotions. This way, their testimonies remain alive and impossible to forget — long after the last eyewitness is gone.
